Effective immediately this group and MyModelTalk will no longer publicly publish celebrity level castings. Why?
A few complaints have surfaced about reverse racial discrimination and Bravo decided to pull the casting (She by Sheree of Real Atlanta Housewives). Why? Because we are only casting Asian, Latina, and Caucasian models at this time.
African-American models were already casted and there was a need to balance out the project.
As an African-American I know exactly what discrimination is so I'm offended by the accusations of reverse discrimination. Although extremely petty, these complaints were made by individuals that don't understand the industry or how it works. There are certain individuals in my ethnic community using race as a crutch when it isn't warranted instead of being realistic.
Being the sad development that it is I've asked my staff NOT to make public the A-list and celebrity castings. That means these castings will be CLOSED from this point forward. Non-celebrity castings will still be made available. If we don't have your information on file you will not be contacted.
We have a casting next week for a play about the life of Barack Obama. We will only be casting African-Americans for this. Hopefully this won't be a problem.
Sheesh...
