Do you look, play, sing or sound like any of the CW performers who made up "The Highwaymen?" That would be Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson and Kris Kristofferson, (not the members of the folk group, David Fisher, Steve Trott, Chan Daniels, Steve Butts and Bob Burnett- not to take anything away from those fine musicians, just not what I am trying to do- at first. Later, a tribute to that group may become part of the show.)
I need people who can pull off a VERY passable impersonation/tribute of those men, their wives/girlfriends, and maybe a few other from the same genre and era (men and women) to form a tribute band that would play clubs, events, etc. where the crowd will appreciate and enjoy the show. (I, personally, have the Willie Nelson thing going on, but if you are better than me at that role, hey, I can step back and let you take the lime light.) Ideally, you should have the LOOK, the MOVES and on-stage HABITS, the VOICE, and the GEAR- guitar, strap, clothes (or be fully prepared to aquire it,) of the person you will be impersonating- but if you are part of the way there, we can work on the rest of it.
Backline musicians will be needed, too-
Lead guitar,
Rhythm guitar,
piano,
drummer,
Harmonica,
bass (electric),
Strings,
Horns,
Musical director,
as well as support personnel-
Sound engineer,
Stage manager,
Inpersonation coach,
Vocal coach,
makeup,
costume,
Roadies,
Business manager,
Booking Agent,
etc.- if you think you have something to contribute, please get in touch with me.
if you are interested in any of that, do email me. Eventually, every person who is needed to make this a success will be needed, so I would like to hear from you. If you are an established professional in any of those positions, that's great- but you need to understand that this is a cooperative, experimental undertaking- you should be prepared to take less than your normal fee until the project gets established. Those with limited or amateur experience, and/or interns, are encouraged to apply.
This will become a professional operation, and pay will be a percentage of what we earn, as a group, from gigs. There will be no pay during organization and rehearsal.
Oh, and just for fun, we might have a Social Distortion Tribute band upstage us on "Ring of Fire..."

Email your qualifications- be thorough and honest. I can't promise I will get back to everyone, but I will try. Interesting applicants will be granted a phone interview; first-cut applicants will be granted a personal interview and informal audition; second-cut applicants will be granted a formal audition. Informal and formal audition music will be drawn from the repetory of The Highwaymen.
If you are interested in any of the core positions- Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson and Kris Kristofferson- attach a picture or two of yourself, including a head shot. Pics need not be professional talent shots, even a self-taken cell-phone pic will do, if it shows that you resemble one of those performers.
This can be a fun way to make some money and play some music.
No Box Car Willie, Shoji Tabuch, or Wayne Newton types need apply- I HATE Branson, MO.!
NOTE: Just found a website for an AUSTRALIAN Highwaymen tribute band- this project will be FAR superior to that one- hats and dusters do NOT cut it! In our show, the Willie Nelson player will play a beat-up nylon string guitar, the Waylon Jennings player will play a Telecaster, for instance- attention to detail makes the difference.
YOU can help this be a success, have fun and make some money in the process.
