We are seeking proficient speakers of African languages for voice work on an audio project for local community radio stations. All languages, especially languages with smaller populations, are of particular interest. Various freelance assignments will involve creating scripted audio files for local reports covering various topics, including small segments, drops, and segues (e.g. for weather reports). With the exception of freelancers located in Southern California, freelancers will need home audio recording equipment (PC, microphone, and appropriate recording software, such as Adobe Audition or equivalent) in order to save files in required formats (mp3 or wav). Assignments are given on a fixed-cost basis.
Languages of most interest are Swahili, Kikuyu, Nyanja (Chewa), and Tumbuka (and other languages of Kenya and Malawi). However, all other African languages are of interest, though our highest priority are those from Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia, Somali, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Burundi, Rwanda, Uganda, and Sudan.
If interested, e-mail your CV to
farmersvoiceradio@yahoo.com with the following information: 1) mention your language of expertise, 2) attach a sample recording of your voice in your chosen language, and 3) tell us about which languages you speak proficiently. Assignments are paid via Paypal based on specific tasks assigned, so applicants will need a Paypal account. Backgrounds in translation and interpretation are a plus. A good command of the English language is a requirement.
