I am the director of a very indie (basically a one woman show) documentary titled "Father Knows Best." This documentary focuses on the patriarchal family dynamic in America and how sexual abuse is a silent epidemic facing children in this country. I will be filming in and around Los Angeles and am looking for women that are willing to speak on camera about their experience in hopes of reaching out to other women who have had a similar experience, as well as protect women and help them receive the counseling they need to not repeat this pattern.
According to the National Center on Child Abuse and Neglect (NCCAN) one in four women have been molested. It is time to break this pattern of abuse so that women of abusive homes do not participate in them as adults as well as other unfortunate outcomes that happen to sexually abused women.
I am looking to interview men and women that have been affected by a father/father figure molesting his daughter(although i definitely know that sons have been molested, the piece is focusing on women). The film will be sent to festivals in hopes of raising awareness of this serious issue.
If you know of anyone that is interested please have them email a brief synopsis of their background (4-5 lines) and contact information.
Being that this is a documentary there is no pay.
