I'm doing an ambitious short film that needs a rock band that can do a kickass guitar riff with a fast tempo for the opening credits. Here's what I need: a song and riff characteristic of early to mid-1960 garage and/or surf rock. Paul Revere, The Sonics, Dick Dale, The Squires.
Here's what the film is about
: Chazz, a pretentious twentysomething Venice Beach hepcat hits his head and has an out-of-body experience in which he learns the true meaning of "hip."
At the beginning of the film (which takes place in the present day), there is a parody of the 50's/60's black-and-white scare film in which the narrator warns of out-of-control youth (zoot suiters, the beat generation, jazz club denizens). He warns about rock and roll, this leads to a rock band playing for a few seconds transitioning to the opening credits in which Chazz's girlfriend is listening and jamming to the same song on on her car radio as she heads to Chazz's place--the car scene is pretty much an homage to the opening credits of Russ Meyer's Faster Pussycat Kill Kill:
