Do you know anyone from New Orleans?
roudie 09-06-2005, 02:37 AM

With everyone from New Orleans displaced after the storm there are a lot of questions as to whether the city should be rebuilt.

1. New Orleans always sat 20 feet below sea level and it has always been luck that until now no Catergory 5 storm has hit it.

2. If is rebuilt will it be the same? I mean can you just move a million people in and out and expect things to return to normal?

3. New Orleans had it's own culture. Will it just disappear?

4. Do you know anyone that had to leave? How do they feel?

I'm just curious as too what everyone thinks. This article I read seems to suggest that New Orleans may never recover from this for a large variety of reasons.

How to Save the Big Easy

Default My cousin Tiffany

My cousin, Tiffany (Representing Guyanese/Jamaican heritage she's on my father side) was in New Orleans doing her internship for MTV. Well, I was supposed to go with her on that trip but I told her I already made plans on going to NY for labor day for the Brooklyn West Indian Parade. So this was like way before the hurricane hit. Well, she was stranded there for like 2 weeks and had to evacuate to Baton Rouge. I am so glad that she is alive and well. She's back home in Greensboro, NC. I need to go visit her I havent seen her since she got back!

I made this post so long ago. Not that anyone is wondering now but I did collect some items including a TV, a bed, and other things...lol

My mother, a flight attendant, introduced me to a family from New Orleans that had lost their home. So I pretty much gave them everything...

I thought I had a lot of stuff but one family needed it all. Kinda helped to put the scope of the disaster in perspective.
