AN EXCERPT FROM AN AIDA ACTOR WHO JUST FINISHED A SAG FEATURE FILM:
“I have been acting and training professionally as an actor for 4 years now, 1 year and a few months with AIDA. Today, I can honestly say I am ready...for anything anyone wants to throw at me.
It wasn't until I got to AIDA that I learned the tools necessary to get me to that place of center where the connection between my voice and my emotions is strong and my performance is full of complexity.AIDA techniques including.(AIDA technique details are taken out by AIDA) allow me to act with emotional resonance in my voice. The breathing exercises are at the very heart of my work, and I don't do any acting without doing my AIDA work including "the vocal work". Period. That combined with the emotional exercises ...(AIDA technique details are taken out by AIDA)"…. I have found acting to become more of a real experience than ever imagined possible. Gone are the days of forcing the connection in order to sound more compelling.
Using these techniques, I have found that often I have to fight back the emotion, as we do in real life. How cool is that. Then there is the AIDA .(AIDA technique details are taken out by AIDA), which for me has been such a flexible technique. The AIDA .(AIDA technique details are taken out by AIDA) brings a whole other dimension to the performance that only gets more interesting and full of depth with the addition of each ...(AIDA technique details are taken out by AIDA). Finally, and probably the next biggest tool for me after AIDA’s ……..(AIDA technique details are taken out by AIDA) System. By choosing ……..(AIDA technique details are taken out by AIDA), hard text analysis has now become simple, and fun. You can really throw some curve balls into your performance, and separate your work from the pack.
Lastly, AIDA’s camera work has really made me aware of any bad habits that I, or other actors for that matter, may have, and even more so, helped identify good habits or traits in other performances. The AIDA camera work we've been doing in class has allowed me to look at film and TV acting in a whole new light. All of these tools were directly responsible for me booking my latest role, a lead in the SAG feature film, “Days of Darkness”. Warming up with...(AIDA technique details are taken out by AIDA), I had a calm that freed me up to be myself in the room, and also allowed me to instantly turn it on and connect with material during the audition.
Doing the ..(AIDA technique details are taken out by AIDA) technique work translated to real emotional resonance coming through in my voice and more importantly my eyes, where I had to fight back the tears. What more can I say...it works! You can't ask for more than that. Thanks AIDA, and cheers mate. Chris Ivan Cevic”
