Comedy actors/variety performers needed to audition for clean comedy show
The New Stage Players is holding open auditions for its second annual "Live From Kennesaw" family-friendly sketch comedy show scheduled for 2/20/09-2/21/09.
We seek anyone over the age of 18 for comedy acting or comedy variety roles as well as backstage and tech crew. Experience not mandatory but is helpful. Actors who can carry a tune, or who are willing to sing anyway even if you cannot, are preferred. Other short comedy variety acts (musical comedy, puppets, stand up, etc) are also welcome to audition.

New Stage Players is an amateur non-profit ministry outreach of New Beginnings UMC Church in Kennesaw, GA. The New Stage Players exist to provide clean, wholesome entertainment to the public, and to present messages in ministry to the church body. This is a Christian ministry, so participation is limited to individuals who profess and demonstrate the Christian faith. All who audition will be asked to define their faith. Membership at New Beginnings church is NOT required, however commitment to scheduled rehearsals is required.
"Live From Kennesaw" is a 90 minute family-friendly non-evangelic live sketch-comedy variety show. Show dates are two shows only, Fri and Sat Feb 20 and 21, 2009. Dress rehearsals will be the full week prior. Please do not audition if you are unsure of your availability. Beginning in late November / early December, rehearsals will take place in Kennesaw on Sunday late afternoons / evenings. Some Saturdays may be scheduled closer to show time. Midweek Wednesday night rehearsal options may be considered based upon interest.
No pay is offered for any roles. This show is a fundraiser for a non-profit group, and all profits will go towards purchasing needed drama equipment to continue the ministry. Your remuneration will be the fun that we have, plus a signed keepsake show program for your bragging wall and maybe a photo or two for your Facebook and Myspace pages.
Auditions will be held at New Beginnings, 2925 Mack Dobbs Rd. Kennesaw, corner of Mack Dobbs and Hwy 41. Audition appointment times available are: Fri Nov 7th (7:00 pm - 9:30 pm) and Sat. Nov 8th (10 am - 3:30 pm). Callbacks will be held Sunday Nov 9 sometime between 2 pm - 8 pm (specific callback time TBD).
First audition for actors should include a prepared memorized monologue of one to two minutes in length, preferably comedic or satirical (we want to laugh), and also be prepared to sing a few stanzas of any song that you know (acapella only). If you are a musician and would consider using your instrument as part of the show, please bring your instrument to demonstrate your ability. Variety acts (puppets, etc) should be present their proposed show act (must be short in length).
Actor callbacks will consist of cold script readings; variety callbacks will repeat their first audition act. You may audition for both acting and variety.
