www.solofty.com) is proud to announce an open casting call for its first new project of 2008.
"The Tree Jumper" (working title) is an original short film to be shot in the Atlanta area during the months of April and May, 2008. The final product will be entered into as many applicable film festivals across the country as possible.
Logline:
A detective, driven by a childhood memory, walks the narrow ledge between duty and conviction when he confronts a convicted child killer awaiting sentencing.

Detective Calvin Porter (Lead) – Male role, ages: 35-40. Det. Porter is a good man in a bad place. Driven, but somewhat reluctant in his task. He goes to the prison to visit a convicted child molestor and murderer the day before his sentencing.
Harold – Male Role, ages: 35-50. The bad man. He has had a hard life and faced many tests, failing most of them. He lived most of his life with his Aunt and Uncle, the latter of whom was his accomplice in the crime for which he has been convicted. The uncle died of a heart attack during his trial.
Karly Porter – Female role, ages: 25-35. Det. Porter’s wife. Independent and strong but worried about her man who has not been sleeping or eating well during this case.
Officer Abe Medson – Male role, ages: 40-55. Friend of Det. Porter’s who works at the prison. The first conversation Calvin has on the way to see Harold. This sets up the mood and possible motive for Det. Porter.
Officer Jackson – Male role, ages: 25-35. Aquaintance of Det. Porter. He let’s Calvin into see the prisoner on the promise of returned favors.
Det. Porter as a Boy – Male role, ages: 7-10. When Det. Porter was a child he became trapped in a tree far enough from home that his mother could not hear his cries. But, someone does. (Requires outdoor work, one weekend of shooting.)
Victim – Male role, ages: 4-7. The victim of Harold’s crime. (No dialog. One day of shooting required. There will be absolutely no scenes of violence filmed, only described in conversation between Det. Porter and Harold)
Man in Woods – Male role, ages: 25-50. This is the man in Det. Porter’s flashback.
Extras – Various diner patrons, waitress and cook.
