They tried the same with me . . .
samson samson is offline 11-17-2006, 01:10 AM

Model Talent Network is comprised of low life scum who are afraid to rob a bank so instead, use trickery to steal money from people. I went as well. i saw the post they posted on craigslist so emailed them. then they called me to come in. they said i don't need anything except a license to come for the interview. i get there, they make me fill out a small form and then ask if i brought pictures. since i didn't, they wanted me to pay a nice amount of money to have them taken. i am surprised the police have not raided them and jailed them for fraud. a person who left after me told me they tried the same on her but they wanted 3 times as much money for the pictures. it must be that they see if you look like you have a lot of money, they charge more. I wonder how much sadly fall for this. They play music videos on a tv in the "waiting room" and think thats all people have to see and they will beleive its a legit company. The lady ("interviewer"), i am not sure if her name was tee or what it was but she looked like she showered in sh*t. I am pissed that they dont care that you waste your time coming in to them just for them to tell u u need to pay an enormous fee for pictures. If they actually had clients who needed models and they can make good money off of you, would you have to pay money for pics. I wonder why they havent been closed down yet?

if your talking about the one in nyc i got a call from them and i went to the office with photos and the lady who came out told me that i needed to take a picture with her photog so that she could send it to him right away to submit me for a job but that i would have to pay a hundred dollars for the photos when i came in with my comp cards, portfolio and headshots. sounds shaky to me

Thumbs up

Did she look at your pictures and say they weren't sufficient or did she ignore you and just try to get you to purchase pictures.

I can understand if the photos weren't of a good enough quality. That wouldn't help anyone. But if Model Talent Network is just trying to get models to purchase pictures.

Well then that's not good.

Yep, what Mykkal just said. The problem in some cases today (and not indicating or implying you by any means!) is that many models/actors go the TFP route and shoot with photographers who, although may (or may not) take nice photos, they can often not be commercial enough, or sufficient in quality or style as required by an agency for presentation to potential clients. In fact, the style of images may even vary from geographic location to location, in some cases. Also, this may vary based on how an agency sees marketing someone specific to a client base or different market.

Agencies may suggest photographers who know what the agency is looking for, or may provide you with examples of what they are looking for from you so that you can show your own photographer(s) and get reasonably like type and style... but if they REQUIRE you PAY money to THEIR photographer only as a requirement for representation, then definitely that is a no-now and they should be avoided.

Default Re: This is definately a scam!!

I had the experience of being contacted by a woman from this so called agency this week. She gave me an appointment and was in such a rush to get me to her office on a day that I couldn't go. Finally, she gives me another day telling to bring 2 forms of ID and pics. I asked her on the phone if this was one of those agency that quickly asks for money for pics etc. and if so I was not interested. She kinda giggled and then said no but after doing my research something seemed fishy. I called back to cancel my appointment, she asked me if I wanted to reschedule and when i said no, she just hung up on me without saying a word. Some professionalism that is. I sell beauty products and someone tells me they are not interested I tell them, Ok,thanks anyways in a nice way. Those do not have any manners, sheesh.

Well, whether they have attempted to scam you or not I would avoid them if they can't treat potential clients right.

How long ago did this happen?
