Yep, what Mykkal just said. The problem in some cases today (and not indicating or implying you by any means!) is that many models/actors go the TFP route and shoot with photographers who, although may (or may not) take nice photos, they can often not be commercial enough, or sufficient in quality or style as required by an agency for presentation to potential clients. In fact, the style of images may even vary from geographic location to location, in some cases. Also, this may vary based on how an agency sees marketing someone specific to a client base or different market.
Agencies may suggest photographers who know what the agency is looking for, or may provide you with examples of what they are looking for from you so that you can show your own photographer(s) and get reasonably like type and style... but if they REQUIRE you PAY money to THEIR photographer only as a requirement for representation, then definitely that is a no-now and they should be avoided. |
