Out of place in the USA?

I've been modeling here for about a year and a half, getting some work, and expanding my portfolio as I go... although people tell me I'd get better business in Europe. I'm currently living and working near Los Angeles, in California. Any suggestions which agencies I should approach, or any referrals for work?
