Left Hip Productions is seeking musicians for From the Hip Theater Festivals. From the Hip theater festival is a 48-hour play festival in which ten-minute plays are written, directed and produced in 48-hours. The plays are based on some sort of improvisation at the beginning of the process, and now we are interested in having musicians (of any instrument) who are interested in a collaboration with theater artists. This could take the form of improvising music which the play then becomes based on, or watching the play as it takes form and then improvising a "score" which will be played over the performance. In the most ambitious cases, there might be a musical play where a song or two is composed by the musician. Overall, we are looking for musicians who like to/are interested in improvising and/or writing on the fly and collaborating on a theater piece in some way. We really just want to have fun and see how many different kinds of art form we can fit into one evening without "over egging the pudding", as they say.
