Roles include:

ROB
Male, Age 18-20
Rob is a kid from Montana in his first year of college. Years on the wrestling team mean he's large and fit, and he works out when stressed, so he's stayed in great shape through freshman year. But he's also very confused and lost in his first year in New York, and innocent enough to be taken in and used by his 'best friend'. (partial nudity required)

ANDREI KOLOSOV
Male, Age 19-22
A charming, beautiful, charismatic hustler. Andrei's in America from outer Novasibirsk, and he's ruthless in doing whatever it takes to stay in New York with enough cash to get by. Andrei is friendly when it's useful, bisexual when its helpful, and cruel when its convenient. He's developed layers of charm and sophistication to mask his terrible loneliness, and his beauty keeps the people around him spectators rather than intimates, which makes him more confident and more isolated. Russian accent required.

SANDY
Female, Age 18-20
Sandy's looking forward to stage managing in college; she's always been happiest with other theater people, even if the actors make her roll her eyes. Sandy's a little plump, in the manner of techs everywhere, but she's also smart, cynical, and a lot of fun. She likes smoking, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and artful put-downs.

PROFESSOR PAUL DENISON
Male, Age 45-65
An urbane, sophisticated libertine. Prof. Denison has been enjoying an open marriage for a while, but doesn't know how to cope when his wife starts having an affair with his former T.A. He reacts with sarcasm and emotional retreat, further walling him off from his spouse.

JEAN-MICHELE
Male, Age 20-24
A French grad student, Jean-Michele specializes in being funny and mean. His ruthless wit and Continental style mean he always has a few French girls hanging on his every remark, and relishing his takedowns of anyone he deems a poseur. French accent required.

AUDREY and HELENE (Jean-Michele’s girls)
Female, Age 18-22
French girls in college, they're elegant, beautiful, and greatly enjoying being in the middle of the action. Sometimes they're mean as Jean-Michele, but sometimes they're in charge of comforting his victims; perhaps they enjoy being the angels of mercy for the people he's cutting up.

BEN
Male, Age 20-24
A fit, sensitive young gay man. Ben is an important figure in the campus GLBT alliance, and appears in the film when he gently tries to bring the protagonist out of the closet.

PROFESSOR LEVINE
Male, Age 50-75
A friendly, ursine, Jewish academic

GAVRILOV
Male, Age 18-20
A sickly Russian immigrant, Gavrilov gets sullen when uncomfortable (and he's always uncomfortable around strangers), but can be warm and fun-loving when he's with a good friend. He's the only person who knows Andrei from back home, and he and Andrei have a kind of puppy-dog friendship that's lingered from their boyhood.

UNCLE REED
Male, Age 50-75
The black sheep of Rob's Montana family, Uncle Reed is a lifelong bachelor and a charming cad. He's gotten by for decades by cadging money off whoever's at hand, and has managed to keep far enough ahead of his creditors to maintain a shabby-genteel spot in the West Village.

DAVID
Male, Age 25-30
A young publicity executive, David is climbing the corporate ladder, but still up for a night at the clubs. He loves New York's gay nightlife, but prefers the dancing and the socializing to the heavy drug scene.

LEAH
Female, Age 45-65
Prof. Denison's lover and friend, Leah is a vivacious, delightfully zaftig Upper West Sider.

MRS. LEVINE
Female, Age 45-55
An affectionate pepperpot of a woman

ROB’S MOM
Female, Age 40-60
A chipper, Prozaced Midwesterner transplanted to Montana, she's raised two boys to be college-bound jocks, and takes a lot of satisfaction from their achievements.

Age 18-22
Three earnest young people, of any gender, recruiting for various political organizations on campus.

THEATER TECHS
Age 18-22
A group of techs, designers and stage managers. A lumpy, maladjusted, cheerfully capable bunch.

THEATER ACTORS
Age 18-22
The beautiful people of the theater department. The boys want to be Robert DeNiro, and affect a certain stubbled swagger. The girls want to be Gwyneth Paltrow, and speak fluent New Age.
