For TWO DIRECTING WORKSHOPS in NYU's 'DIRECTING THE ACTOR' COURSE
(with supervision and guidance from Professor Denny Lawrence, Australian film, television and theater director) A practical workshop in the fundamentals of directing, this course explores the working relationship between actor, director, and script. The focus lies in the director’s work with analyzing a script and communicating its meaning and action to actors and crew.
I am looking for two actors to collaborate with on a scene that involves a conversation between two sisters, Hannah and Holly, who are polar opposites. Holly, full of insecurities, reveals to her much more confident sister Hannah that she's having an affair with a married man, and that she has an audition for a Broadway musical.
2 breakdowns:
1. HOLLY: Female / 18-30 yrs. / Any Ethnicity. Her insecurities drive her to date a married man. Holly is eager to become something she's not: the kind of woman that could cause a man to leave his wife. She dreams of performing on Broadway, but there's one catch: she can't sing. Holly looks to her sister Hannah for reassurance but only finds more affirmations of her
own self-doubts.
2. HANNAH: Female / 18-30 yrs. / Any Ethnicity. Holly's confident and collected sister. She loves Holly and wants the best for her. She tries to protect her, but often ends up hurting her.
Audition: This Sunday, October 18.
You must be available THIS SUNDAY for the audition, and TWO WEDNESDAYS for the workshops - October 21st and November 25th from 2:45-3:45.
