Third Room Productions is producing and directing a half-documentary, half-myth short film based on the Main Squeeze Accordion Orchestra, an all-female accordion orchestra based here in NYC.
The short film is a “documentary” made by a young girl who becomes intrigued by the women of the Main Squeeze Accordion Orchestra. In interviewing the women and growing closer to them, she begins to invent her own mythology about the orchestra until that the doc switches from a straightforward doc to an unusual collage of reality and fantasy.
We are seeking our young actress/filmmaker 7-14 years old to play the part of the young girl. She will partially improvise interviews with the ladies of Main Squeeze, and she will contribute to the writing and development of the film alongside director Josephine Decker. It's a terrific opportunity for a young person curious to learn more about filmmaking, acting or docs in general.
Acting and filmmaking experience are helpful, but neither is as important as enthusiasm and a bright wit! Approximately ten partial shoot days (after-school and one weekends) will take place throughout November and early December with pick-ups in January. Stipend of $50 per shoot day available.
Please e-mail a little about yourself or your daughter, interest in the project and a photo to:
