(THIS IS A LEGIT READING... PLEASE CRAIG AND CO *DO NOT FLAG IT!!!* THANKS :-)
Playwright seeking great actors for a reading of an original one-act stage play to be read on Tuesday, December 8th in Manhattan (tentatively at the Pearl Theater on St. Marks in the East Village).
A few Broadway/television/film (equity/SAG/AFTRA) actors have been approached to read roles and have shown interest. Actors that feel comfortable reading with well established actors (or are established actors yourself interested in reading original material) are most welcome.
At the present time, a rehearsal would be possible if all actors involved can coordinate schedules with stage director Gabriel Barre (dir. "The Wild Party" with Taye Diggs and Idina Menzel... who will be present at the reading).
Best case scenario: there will be at least one rehearsal before the reading. Most probable scenario: it may be a cold reading with actors you'll meet that night and if you're comfortable with that... However, you will get the play in plenty of time to read and work on it.
LOOKING FOR TWO ACTORS:
FEMALE: Mid-20s
MARY BETH MARTINELLI: Mid-20s "party-girl" with a drug problem; major flirt; has had many a sugar daddy and jet-sets quite a bit (as her brother is a flight attendant and she can fly for free quite often). Prefer "dark" (hair, eyes), hipster chick with an "Italian-look" -- a pretty Jersey Girl (but tries to hide the accent – possibly with a slight California affectation).
MALE: African-American; Late-30s/Mid-40s
CONSTRUCTION WORKER: African-American male, working class, (probably from Newark, but not defined), self-described as 6'2, 280. Teddy bear-ish, calm but has gone through a traumatic experience. Somewhat soft-spoken but can get animated.
