Please check out the International Ballet Dance Center for body conditioning classes. Visit www. Lindtballet.com and call (212) 974-1150. You will learn how to stretch, lengthen your muscles and become limber to do all the great ballet moves. I also practice Vinyasa yoga so I understand what you mean. It's training your muscles in a specific way and building strength. I am not the owner but a student writing from my own experience. You will accomplish what you want but you really have to be consistent and do the work. The video showed the dancers on Pointe. Please note that Pointe classes are offered as well if you lack that experience.
You can email me for more info but I think it's best that you speak with the studio directly. If you feel you need one-on-one, privates are offered. Best of luck!
As they say, when the student is ready the teacher appears. ;-) It's never to late!

so this is my last hope-
i am a dancer who wants to be more flexible but doesn't know how
stretch stretch stretch everyday i understand, but what is the best way to get a side split AND develope holding it? and how long will it take for my body type? I have a very muscular physique and find it very difficult to stretch. I just need a coach, or at least someone to get me started. I started yoga (vinyasa) which helps a lot but i want something more specific that i can do everyday without hurting myself as well as working towards the above specific goal. PLEASE if you are able to help me, or you know of anyone or any institution let me know. Please email me with location, and contact information.
i am looking for this type of flexibility:
