RUNWAYPLACEMENT.COM SCAM : FASHION WEEK, JAY TOWNSEND
fluffy_dolphin fluffy_dolphin is offline 01-21-2007, 08:57 AM

WATCH OUT FOR THIS GUY:

FASHION SHOW SCAM – REQUIRES PURCHASE OF PICTURES TO SECURE EMPLOYMENT

www.runwayplacement.com

There is a guy who has invented a fashion event that does not exist. He asked for models, but required you to use his photographer to take your pictures in order to be in the show. The show does not exist, the venue he said the show was going to be at does not exist, and everything about the guy is a scam. He just wants you take pictures with his photographer and take your money. When I wanted to be in the show, all he wanted was for me to buy pictures from his photographer. I don’t know if the photographer knows that this guy is a scam or not, so I won’t mention him (YET…), but the guy putting it all together is a scam artist and you NEED TO KNOW so he doesn’t get your money. He runs the scam here, in California, Dallas, in Oregon and in Washington.

Quotes from his and "amy's" emails to me: “You need to get professional photos first!!”
"You need to shoot with [name of photographer removed] or Jace will not use you in the show." “we do not like working with other photographers”

When I asked to BUY a ticket to go to the show to watch and offered to help, they answered an email with:
“NO, you are not a hi fashion model and no you can not buy your way
in...” “we do not need your help, so just buzz off please!”

The event is called SAN DIEGO FASHION WEEK or SAN DIEGO INTERNATIONAL FASHION WEEK, Winter Formal Portland

The guy trying to set up the event is "JACE" or "JTM" or “JAY” or "Jay Townsend"

His website is listed to:

He sends out emails pretending to a fashion booker "AMY" from a company called RUNWAY PLACEMENT

They have a web page with no info at http://www.runwayplacement.com/

They use the following myspace pages:
http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm...endid=42145591
http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm...ndid=107922500

They use and have used the following emails: sandiegomodels@gmail.com , amy@runwayplacement.com , runwayplacement@gmail.com , bookingpro@gmail.com , winterformalportland@gmail.com ,

They use a phone number of 6198691806 , (619) 869-1806, 323-973-3037
619-869-1806, (same number but so you can search on it)

They said the event was going to be at 416 4th Avenue in San Diego (no such place)

They have run this same or similar scam in Seattle, Portland, San Diego and Dallas

He says he lives in LA JOLLA- he actually lives at the alcoholic halfway house on Island Street in San Diego (he originally had demos and photos sent there in a previous craigslist posting ): http://www.nosdco-aa.org/links/detox.shtml

Don’t let him take your money- If he wants you to be in show ask him WHEN AND WHERE IT IS AND HOW MUCH IT PAYS. When he can’t answer tell him to “buzz off”.

Don’t PAY to be in a fashion show!!!! and pass the word on to shut him down

It’s closer to 7.6 million a year, and just a little bit of everyone’s time, fluffl Dolphin is Steve Villanuea, professional scammer of Hollywood talent and assoc. They are not bonded or licensed with the atty general’s office or the better business bural I'm editing this info 3rd party but I know Steve to be a real scumbag. He is a photographer, lawyer and DJ,,,, Hmmm, also a promoter to make things worse. Wherewasi.com is his site. Here is some additional info I found form breakdown services....

There is not a single company in the modeling industry where some Internet "know it all" has written something negative on some free uncensored, unregulated post board. Although thissite seems to have a regulator that is involved. I challenge anybody to prove me wrong. I think it is absolute bullshit someone named flyffy_dolphin can get on here and accuse someone of fraud. I think receipts of them actually taking money or some other proof should be provided before someone makes uneducated assumptions and they are posted. I happen to know Nicole and some of the people @ runway placement and none of them would do anything Charlton like. It is also very easy if you look at the writing styles that these are all done by the same person, except for the person posted just above from me. I also feel they are somewhat connected being runway placement has not had any events since the winter formal Portland. I have been modeling in the industry for several years and have seen this type of muck raking and my advice would be taken it as a grain of salt. Plus if you understood how many shows they would have in a quarter year this complaint could stand for a compliment. It’s not like they are having a pageant and charging an admission fee for every participant. I also was never asked to purchase photos, and I personally walked in shows the Internet posters Vagina Power and Fluffy Dolphin are claiming never happened. There is photo evidence that in fact they did happen and there are photos of me on Nicole's website.
I paid $900 for my photos from JRP and actually found it easier to book professional jobs with them, my agency refused to work with me without them. They were costly but it should be also known that the most successful model to date is Cindy Crawford, on her website it states she paid over 2, 000.00 to have her portfolio made and it is what made her career. So in a way I guess I still received a deal also considering that was in the 80's that Cindy's book was done. Most of the people who complain about having to pay money to get started in this industry are broke, and I'm not making fun of them, it’s the basic fact of life. There is a golden rule in life, "it takes money to make money" I firmly believe everything in life takes investment and time. Even if you win the lottery you have to buy the ticket and if you are going to be a professional snow boarder, you got to buy your board. If you try to roll through life thinking everything should be handed to you, "just because", you have a problem and you will find enough time to be stuck on these chat boards that take time away from your own success. If you want to target your anger towards someone who takes away from this industry, aim it to the management companies that demand you pay signing fees, pay for pictures from their in house photographer or require training classes like the schools. This is all bull unless you want to be an actor. A model needs to have a portfolio to be professional and that's about it, she needs to own 100% of it though. She or he may find an agency that is willing to make it on a loan but they still have to pay for it. Runway Placement did a lot of Charity events and wanted everyone to have professional photos and to my knowledge they referred to a few different photographers that charged between 2 and 300 dollars. That's extremely cheep from a normal book price. I would almost think someone was doing me a favor, I paid $900.00 I'm pretty happy with the response I have received from it but if I had known Nicole like I do now, I would have had her make it for me.

Also, this person uses different names and writes from the same stand
Point. The comment, `` this time he is much softer'' indicates its the
Same future so I assume in the future we can see a new character that
Uses words like ''da'' and ''wit it'' it will be something cleaver I'm
Sure. There is a post of a black male, written the exact way and uses
Identical grammar, and the first sentence says, I'm sure you guys know
Me as honest man'' Yet that's the only post he has ever made on that
Site/forum and signed up that day, so by establishing a false
Credibility to make you believe these ludicrous tales that are
Obviously made by a competitor or someone that does not have enough
Money to do this industry the right way, which is still the same
Person...

This is plain stupid; I was searching for images online for shows I have worked for them in the past since my computer crashed. They are all very cool, professional people and fun to work with. They always are benefiting a charity and have news and radio there. Top notch productions and a positive movement for the industry. Sounds like this Steve guy is a real trouble maker over in SD and out of curiosity, I goggle’s the address of the halfway houses and it is actually a high-rise condominium building.

Angry Re: RUNWAYPLACEMENT.COM SCAM : FASHION WEEK, JAY TOWNSEND

His name is Jace Thompson, he's 27 years old and he lives in Yakima, WA. He went to East Valley High School in Yakima and graduated in 2000. Jay Townsend is an innocent victim and has nothing to do with him - Jace used Jay to set up his phony website so there would be a buffer and it couldn't be traced to him.
Jace used to work at the John Casablancas agency in Bellevue, WA which apparently served as a training ground for him to perfect his scams. He's used the following email addresses though I don't know if any of them are still active: jaceone2k@yahoo.com, jaceone2k@hotmail.com, jaceone2k2@yahoo.com, jaceonek@yahoo.com
Former addresses listed are: 308 108th Ave., NE, 4633 149th Ave., SE, 875 124th Ave., NE, all in Bellevue, WA.
His current scam website is: Fashion Week Placement Anything having to do with fashion week placement or fashionweekplacement There is no placement to be offered at all, just a bold faced lie, so he can make his house payments in Yakima without having to get a real job.

More info to come

You're off base still. He actually lives in Kirkland and works in advertisement for a real estate company as well, he is a colleague and I have helped him buy his RE. He dedicates a ton of time to charity work every year. I have had the time to know most of the organization and have had excellent experiences and have even modeled in some of the shows. Its obvious this is the works from the same person who has no real life other than being a slanderous fool. Anybody with any education knows that the internet says whatever one wants to type on the screen. Most everything here is BS and these organizations have have excellent reputations within the community. Type the name of and fashion agency/organization/school whatever and join scam to the search. Compare them to anybody else and you will see that the internet trash talkers are minimal. They are only models that did not make the cut.
