If you are in NYC (303 5th ave) please be advised that this company is very scandlous and will take advantage of new talent. I went in June 2006 and met with Mr. Stevens (Director of Models & Talent) and was told he was interested in me. He then stated I had to pay for my complete portfolio and he would put up half. He said I would have to pay $90.00. I agreed and handed him my master card debit. Then he over charged me $9.00 telling me thats tax. I had the one photo shoot that day. The next day I went to pick up the pictures and see when my next photo shoot would be, to complete portfolio. He told me I had to pay $460 more. I did not pay it and reminded him that he told me the $90.00 was for a complete portfolio.

He changed his story of course, but luckily I have a great bank that is investigating his fraudelent activities.

Do not waste your time with him. He will try to rip you off!

Gotham Model and Talent doesn't even sound like a freidnly buisness name. Are they operating in a office? What is his first name? Man that is dirty what he did to you...

Default scams...what are the red flags??

Hey guys,
I'm new to this whole modeling world. I just want to know...how do you know right off that a company just wants your money? I have actually received contracts online via e-mail from companies on craigslist, but I never signed them. In fact, I received a contract that required I pay a $298 "security deposit". It also said I only had 3 days to reply...I didn't reply. Then, I saw a different ad on craigslist with a different contact email...when I sent a headshot to this company, I received yet ANOTHER contract....and guess what...it was almost the same as the first contract I had received..still the same $298 "security deposit", just from a different email address.

Tiffany,

It's just like regular career work. Never expect to be charged to arrange an interview.
