"Gave them the money"?
What is the first rule about REAL AGENCIES vs. SCAMS?
In most states, it is ILLEGAL for an agency to require any money to be paid upfront or the requirement for specific photo shoots or classes. This can be said over and over and over and over... and yet these scams still get rich quick because people still "give them the money."
This sounds like that phoney clothing scam that has been going on for about 10 years now online. It's about as sound as the Nigerian check scam - yet still manages to survive, and with the guy running it probably driving around Beverly Hills now in his Ferarri. Originally, it was called W.I.S.H. Network... but has changed names over the years a few times, I think.
Scams are not difficult to detect: 1. Never pay any money upfront, 2. Beware high model/acting fees to be paid - if they have that kind of money, you can bet they're using real agencies and not the Internet to cast, 3. Real land-based agencies (unless you are a known talent) utilize models/talent local to them, while Internet agencies sign anyone regardless where they are located.
