Baby modeling is perhaps the most difficult. First, companies like GERBER (and others) who do national print ads, product labels, etc., hire their talent through major talent agencies. This is generally done in the major markets, and/or where the client/advertiser has it's advertising department headquartered.
Agencies tend not to "sign" babies because keeping their photos updated is difficult - they change their look so often as they grow. Often, agencies will offer to "keep your baby on file," but this file is purged every few months since babies don't stay babies long.
My company specializes in children and teens, and does very well for our market location, but even we do not handle anyone under 5. It's just a photographic nightmare to keep the babie photos current, and the amount of work available is minimal. The companies that use baby models pretty much do so in markets like L.A., N.Y., and Chicago. These agencies that do handle them would require you to live there. |
