Hi Everybody,

I signed up with an online agency. So far, they have proven to be very good. However, what I want to know is if I answer an audition, say on Craigslist, and then the agency sends over photos and resumes to the casting, I should not have to pay the agency right? I responded to an ad on craigslist and was invited to audition as a result. However, unbeknownst to me, my agency sent a bunch of resumes and photos to this same casting. When I went for an audition yesterday I was informed by the casting director that they received a personal e-mail from me from craigslist. I am thinking that the agency has no right to get a percentage of anything if I answered the ad first, right? Help? Thanx.

Moving to watchlist. Remeber the watch list is for the following:

Quote:
A place to talk about any concerns or ask questions about others in the industry. It's also good place to expose 'legal' yet disturbing business practices or just inquire about other businesses or people in the Industry.

I was in a similar situation. My contract is an exclusive contract and everything I do as far as modeling for print, promotional and acting ges through my agency. When I found an ad on Craig's list for a commercial, I submitted, got it and then had my agency deal with all the business aspects of it. They checked out the client to make sure he was legit, negotiated the usage, and all that. It is well worth going through an agency. You should read your contract, but I suggest you go through your agency regardless. Besides, the vast majority of your work is probably going to come through them rather than on your own.
