Hair show modeling - advice?
actingfamily actingfamily is offline 02-15-2007, 01:53 PM

Just got a call from our agent asking if my 15 yr old dd wants to audition as a hair show model for the Paul Mitchell hair show. She has lovely, thick long hair. I was told she would have to be open to whatever they might want to do to her hair.

Has anyone here done hair shows? How radical can they get with cutting, color, etc.? Do you have any say or control over what is done? I wouldn't mind seeing her get a slightly different style or a mild color change or highlights but wouldn't want anything radical.

Plus, we JUST had new headshots done of her so would end up losing any money made if we had to have new hs taken if her look changed greatly.
Any advice? I need to get back to our agent about it. Thanks!

We went to the Paul Mitchell call Sat. morning. 200 model hopefuls there...selected 60 for the show including my daughter .

She did the Saturday show...got highlights and lowlights put in on the sides, did it "peekaboo" fashion so her top layer of hair covers it but can be pulled back to show the streaks. So no problem matching her new headshots. Was supposed to have a cut done too but they ran out of time in the show. May call her back to do the cut in the show Monday if other models aren't available.

She had a great time, loved being styled, wearing the funky outfit, being on stage, meeting new people and loves the new streaks. They also gave a very nice model gift bag full of their products. It was a good experience.

The hair shows can be fun. Glad she had a good time. Gets kinda crazy too (in a nice way)!
