Just got a call from our agent asking if my 15 yr old dd wants to audition as a hair show model for the Paul Mitchell hair show. She has lovely, thick long hair. I was told she would have to be open to whatever they might want to do to her hair.

Has anyone here done hair shows? How radical can they get with cutting, color, etc.? Do you have any say or control over what is done? I wouldn't mind seeing her get a slightly different style or a mild color change or highlights but wouldn't want anything radical.

Plus, we JUST had new headshots done of her so would end up losing any money made if we had to have new hs taken if her look changed greatly.
Any advice? I need to get back to our agent about it. Thanks!

Default hair shows

im a hair model and have done tons of shows- the more you will allow the hairstylists to do cut/color/style, the more you are likely to book the job. However, dont feel afraid to tell them your limitations. to minimize hair damage esp since your daughter is 15 with a long lifespan left in the industry....i usually will only do jobs "worth it" financially to make up for anything that goes on that i may have to correct and will only do 1-2 a yr to let me hair heal.....hope this helps!

I'm assuming that you are talking about the Bonner bros. hair show this weekend. I have a few models in the show.

Your're pretty much at their mercy. And it depends on if your son is working with a stylist or a salon. Salon's generally show off hair washing, and other treatments but don't cut or trim the persons hair.

The Stylist's however are much more radical and trendy. If you agree to it then you are pretty much at their mercy.

BTW, Bonner Bros. is more a expo then a real hair show. it's good to do once or twice (networking opps) but becuase its mostly unpaid I wouldn't recommend more then that.

I don't know if Bonner Brothers and Paul Mitchell are the same show but this call specifically said for the Paul Mitchell show. The initial audition is Sat. morning with shows Sat, Sun, and Mon. Models can be chosen for one, two, or three days work and are paid for each day....not a lot... $75 per day.

I think it would be a fun experience for her and a good modeling credit for her resume (which is primarily acting right now). She's 5'10" at age 15 so has some potential as a model ahead of her.

I'm waiting for a call back from the event rep to ask what kind of parameters we can set on what can be done to her hair. I'd hate to have her long, thick, dark hair chopped off and colored bright red, LOL!!

Our agent recommended that we go down for the audition, explain what we are and are not willing to have done and see if they will accept her from there.
