Rating: (1 votes - 5.00 average) I went on craiglist a moment ago and I ran across this ad with my name in it. I'm very pissed, cuz not only are this company is goin' around scammin' people, but now once you think they can't get any lower than they already are, but now they are goin' around tryin' to slander and solder upcoming models good name.
All because some saw through there BS. Also I want to address the part of there statement that states "if you don't select them you'll be put on mymodeltalk.com/watchlist" I was selected and I had enough since to know better than to give up money, so I suggest you stop scamming and slandering and start up a legitimate business with all of the money that you have taken from innocent models and get a life!
Everything I stated was true and that's why you're so mad cuz the truth hurts, I don't have any reason to lie on scum.
To all Real Models, that is very serious about their modeling career, Beware of these low-life trouble makers on mymodelstalk.com. they bash companies and others models. They don't half to know you ,they just love's to put lies out.
If you are an companies , and you don't select them , you will be put on the mymodelstalk.com/watchlist , as a scam. If you are a models , you would be classified as a very, very bad model. No, we are regulated by the state. Also, our clients do not want to have to cut a number of checks and deal with individual people when they can just pay one invoice to the agency. Also, it would be a larger headache to have to chase down each model and actor to receive our commission. Additionally, many larger companies only pay based on invoice - and models/actors don't have the capacity to invoice on their own. It is one of the reasons that the clients go through an agency vs. sourcing models on their own. They simply want the model or actor to show up and do what is asked of them and then leave. Negotiations, contracts, releases, agreements, and financials are something they don't want to deal with the talent about. Our clients do 1099's on us for what they've paid out for jobs during the year and to maintain an audit trail, we have to account for the same so that in the end, our claimed "profit" that we're taxed on all adds up. NBC and others of that size, however, do pay directly to the talent (at least into their name) simply because of union rules and regulations. In those cases the talent are resonsible for their 10% to the agency - which I personally hate and would prefer all monies to come though the agency to be processed first. |

Thanks. This site is especially refreshing - both you and mykkal are right on the money in everything I've been reading and considering how most forums are more bad information than good, the two of you seem to provide some great insight that hopefully people listen to. |

Rep Power: 0 | I have to say that with as many shady operations that seem to be run in the modeling circles, it's really nice to have something like mymodeltalk to see what people are saying. It could be some operations are scams and others are just issues of competancy, but either way it's useful for me to at least see what is going on as I try to make my way through this minefield. Thankfully, I'm signed witha regional agency which I like very much so I'm getting some work and experience. However, I've been looking at what it would take to broaden my prospects and maybe acquire a bit of work outside my home region. I think the watch and scam alerts are very valuable assets in this regard.
I would also point out that libel and slander have three components (at least, this is what I recall when I was a pre-journalism major in college): 1) the claims have to be false; 2) the claims have to be shown to cause harm; and 3) there must be intent to cause harm. It's very tough to prove these cases.
I think one of the stellar things about Mykkal, outside of his infinite patience with people who keep replying to casting listings in the forum instead of to the appropriate contacts, is his openess to let those against who complaints have been made respond in this forum.
I agree that disgruntled models could maliciously or out of plain ignorance or arrogance post complaints, but thankfully both sides can be heard here. Although I think a lot of times the unrealistic expectations of some are obvous in their complaints. |
