I dont think that you can't get legitimate jobs off of craiglist and sites lke this, many ppl are trying to avoid agency fees, and look for not represented models/actors.

To note, it is not required that they be "licensed" to cast projects. In California, the licensing requirement is for agencies REPRESENTING talent. Casting and extra casting companies, producers of fashion shows, and etc., are nto required to register with the State of California. As for looking for non-represented models/actors, this may be true of mom n' pop shops, but simply not going to happen with the real cash cow jobs - and certainly not with any substantial acting gigs which are SAG and only go through SAG franchised agencies for submission. That's just how the business works, especially in L.A.

I wouldn't say you can't find legitimate jobs on here/there. I would say you won't find breakdowns or closed castings... All other you will.

I'm guessing you have never been to sites like mandy.com or modelmayhem.com.

Just becuase it's online doesn't mean it's not legitimate. That's really not a good assumption. It will, in fact, hinder you (from finding jobs).

ModelsMayhem appears to be focused primarily on adult entertainment (their "forums," in fact, are relatively scary). It's realized that photographers with weekend projects or art hobbies do hire models for a fee, and that things like import car shows are always looking online for girls, but I personally wouldnt' find something like ModelsMayhem to be beneficial in the mainstream - in fact, like many agencies, our contract restricts our talent from participation in adult oriented sites (MM named specifically). This said, yes there are jobs that can be found online for those who freelance (and everybody, including those represented should still be seeking their own jobs too). It's not likely you'll find a major ad campaign for print, though, or anything SAG related. There are exceptions to everything, of course, but there are also odds.

I know that they allow artistic nude castings however I've not seen any fullblown adult castings. Matter of fact I know they make an effort to delete that stuff. Of course our expereinces could always be different.

Mostly, I see sites like MM, MMT, and OMP being inspriational tools and a good way to meet/network with others in the industry. Unlike the rest my goal here is to turn MMT in a useful and much needed tool.

I think I know what that tool is...
http://www.modelmayhem.com/member.php?id=6903

There are, on the other hand, professional industry sites such as NowCasting and Actor's Access that are excellent resources for professional models and actors.
